D-SWITCHER-II is a 1:1 Redundancy Switch for DAB+/DAB transmission networks to provide backup redundancy protection for Multiplexers.

The typical application for the D-SWITCHER is to be placed after two redundant DAB Service or Ensemble multiplexers.

D-SWITCHER can be operated in a number of automatic modes or manual mode.

In the automatic modes, the output from the D-SWITCHER is determined by the status of System 1 and System 2 equipment chains.  If a fault is detected, the Redundancy Switch will automatically select the best input signal.  In the Manual mode the user can designate the selected input source either from the interactive front panel or a remote web interface.

Switching does not interrupt in the transmission, i.e. the COFDM will not lose synchronisation to the incoming ETI stream.

The changeover algorithm is preserves the frame counter (FCNT).  If this not is possible due to unsynchronised input signals, the algorithm always preserves the frame phase of the ETI stream.

The timestamp values are updated before transmitting.

D-SWITCHER supports both ETI and STI input signals (two separate modes).

In automatic mode the input channel selection can be set-up in a number of modes.

  • Prefer None: the D-SWITCHER selects the best input signal, but does not switch if the status of the input signals are equal.
  • Prefer A/B: one of the inputs is assigned higher priority when selecting the active input.
  • Linked A/B: two D-SWITCHER units works as a redundant pair.  One of the inputs is assigned higher priority when selecting the active input except that the units will always select the same input.
