    VDL acquires the broadcast product range of Somerdata
    VDL S.A. (Lyon, France) has today announced that it is acquiring the complete broadcast product range of Somerdata Ltd. (Wells, Somerset, UK).

    Both Companies are at the forefront of the latest multimedia digital radio technologies and offer complimentary product ranges, which will now be brought together under the VDL brand.

    The acquisition of the SomerData product Broadcast range further enhances VDL’s position as a leading total solution provider of end-to-end broadcast systems.  The combined product range will cover head-end encoders, multiplexers, as well as systems for both pre-transmission and post-transmission Ensemble logging and monitoring.
    VDL offers a range of audio encoders Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB & DAB+), video encoders for Digital Multimedia Broadcast (DMB) and Ensemble multiplexers for broadcasters and network operators.  VDL’s products include: D-VAUDAX, the all-in-one DAB/DMB multiplexer; D AUDIENCE Audio encoders for DAB/DAB+ and D-EVIDENCE video encoders for DMB.
    The SomerData products range provides monitoring, logging, recording, replay, analysis and signal routing products for DAB, DAB+ and DMB broadcasters, network operators and developers.  SomerData’s products include: DABSTOR for head-end applications and
    DABSTOR-Rx for post-transmission applications.
