České Radiokomunikace selects DAB+ Multiplexers and Encoders from VDL for Czech Radio’s Digital Radio roll-out
26th April 2014 saw the launch of a new digital radio network in Prague by České Radiokomunikace (Prague, Czech Republic).

České Radiokomunikace launched DAB+ digital radio broadcasting in Band-III from the Strahov

transmitter in Prague. The initial Prague digital radio multiplex included four channels, which was

increased to 16 channels on 31st August 2014 and to 18 channels on 1st September 2014.

The České rozhlas stations are: Vltava; Wave; Radiožurnál; Dvojka; Plus; Junior; D-Dur and Jazz. The

other radio stations are: Evropa 2, RockZone, Frekvence 1, BBC, Pigy, Implus, Impuls AM, Dechovka,

Rádio Blaník and Rádio City 93,7 FM.

Currently transmitting to a population of more than 800,000 in Prague and Central Bohemia, České

Radiokomunikace’s long-term plan for the national roll-out of DAB+ is to provide a choice of national and

regional programmes across the major cities in the Czech Republic.

České Radiokomunikace selected VDL to supply DAB+ Encoding and, Multiplexing Head-end systems, with

installation and support services provided by Multimedia Systems s.r.o (Zlin, Czech Republic). The

selection was made following extensive commercial and technical evaluations.
